The Rise of the New Global Elite - Magazine - The Atlantic

The cultural ties that bind the super-rich to everyone else are fraying from both ends at once. Since World War II, the United States in particular has had an ethos of aspirational capitalism. As Soros told me, “It is easier to be rich in America than in Europe, because Europeans envy the billionaire, but Americans hope to emulate him.” But as the wealth gap has grown wider, and the rich have appeared to benefit disproportionately from government bailouts, that admiration has begun to sour.

Yeah – these guys deserve some credit, good ideas and the follow through and hard work gave them some cash.  However, I have a hard time believing that some of it is merely situational.  There but for the grace of whatever god you believe in goes the peasant.

We have too look out for ourselves, as group we can take care of each other – No. 1 support alternative energy, No. 2 build up your wealth.

My PBW holdings did well today.  However, my precious silver is taking a beating.

Tis OK – just get load up on more for cheaper.

You know, maybe – if I play my cards right, they’ll let me be an American.

Adding to the pirate chest

Silver 01202011

The price stalls in the top of the regression channel.  So as you probably read already – short term outlook for Ag isn’t looking too good, but the uptrend is still there.  Perhaps this just another pause like back in October.

Alternative Energy ETF PBW going where?

Flipping through the daily run of news and came across this over at Zero Hedge, some bad news about Solar Stocks.  Great  :- /

Unfortunately, in a time of global austerity, which is slowly spreading everywhere but the US, said subsidies for solar companies (and thus cash flow bleeding stocks) may soon be at an end. Dow Jones reports that Germany: one of the bigger subsidizers of a fledgling solar industry, is set to cut solar subsidies by up to 12%, 6 months ahead of schedule.

One of my long term strategies involves PBW, an alt energy ETF.  This allows you to spread your risk over a broad area, impossible to know how the industry will play out, who wins or who loses.  So far, off a cliff then flat and lagging.  Solar stocks make up a decent part of PBW, its going to take a hit.  Hopefully the diversity of an ETF provides a cushion.

Whatever – it hasn’t been good, but I am staying with it, energy is going to be needed in the long, long term.  Buy the dip.

Anyways, that whole flying the kite and lightning thing worked out – ya dig?
